Five years from now the internet will be dominated by Chinese-language content.
Today’s teenagers are the model of how the web will work in five years – they jump from app to app to app seamlessly.
Five years is a factor of ten in Moore’s Law, meaning that computers will be capable of far more by that time than they are today.
Within five years there will be broadband well above 100MB in performance – and distribution distinctions between TV, radio and the web will go away.
“We’re starting to make signifigant money off of Youtube”, content will move towards more video.
“Real time information is just as valuable as all the other information, we want it included in our search results.”
There are many companies beyond Twitter and Facebook doing real time.
“We can index real-time info now – but how do we rank it?”
It’s because of this fundamental shift towards user-generated information that people will listen more to other people than to traditional sources. Learning how to rank that “is the great challenge of the age.” Schmidt believes Google can solve that problem.
Google announced today that it will soon be launching a new version of it’s search engine. Codenamed Caffeine, the new version of Google claims to be faster, more accurate and more comprehensive than the current version of Google.

I’ve have always been a fan of Microsoft Exchange, primarily because it works so well with Outlook on the desktop and OWA (Outlook Web Access). Once again the developer gods at Google have changed that with the release of Google Apps Sync, merging the affordability of Google with the familiarity of Microsoft Outlook.
What is It?
Google Apps Sync is a workstation plug-in that allows you to sync your Outlook and Google web-based apps such as e-mail, calendar and contacts.
How easy it is to set up?
Setup is cake, taking me about 5 minutes to install the Sync plug-in on my workstation. Once logged in, your existing Outlook contents (e-mail, calendar events, and contacts) are imported to the Google Apps servers automagicaly.
What Versions of Outlook does it work with?
Outlook 2003 SP3 or 2007 SP2
Google Apps Sync has the ability to question the need for Exchange, especially in a small business environment where the initial software purchase and upkeep is a large percentage of an IT budget.

A sitemap is basically a page or pages that serves as a directory by listing all the links to all documents and files found in a website. It is not merely a random listing of links, but organized in such a way that it gives the web user an idea of how all the information that can be found in the site fits into an outline or framework. It is like viewing the table of contents of a book, or viewing the “concept map” of the site’s content.
Why should I use sitemaps?
No page will be left unturned, all pages of your website will be considered by Google and Bing for listing. This potentially increases exposure which equals higher traffic to your web site.
How do I create a sitemap?
Free online websites are the easiest way to create sitemaps. http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ – This site creates Google, Yahoo & Bing- formatted site maps on the fly and will even update the pages for you. No programming knowledge needed.

Google released version 2.0 of its Chrome browser today. For those of you not using Chrome you should give it a shot. It’s lightweight – not in lbs terms but in CPU and Memory allocation. The new 2.0 version is faster when browsing than any other browser today.
Chrome for the MAC and Linux is on its way as well!
Google rolled out a new product today called Web Elements. Web Elements makes it easier to embed your favorite Google product into your webpage. This is a perfect way to add event calendars, etc. to website projects that don’t have the budget or need for a custom-programmed solution.
